The busy korfball week began with the unrescheduled korfball match against KV Zetten. After a refreshing bike ride from Wageningen, the players were ready to take another step closer to the championship. But they needed to win first. W.S.K.V. Débaldérin started the match well with an immediate goal from Jelmer, followed shortly by a through ball from Tom. After another quick goal, this time from Bart Merks, we found ourselves looking at a score of 0-3. After that, Débaldérin’s attacks didn’t seem to make much of an impact. Once the first substitutions were made, Bart Merks decided to shoot again, bringing the score to 0-4, which prompted Nathalie to move to defense. Following goals from Tom, Bart Schreuder, and Rianne, we went into halftime with a score of 2-7.

In the second half, things started to click for Reinier as well, and after a few minutes, he set the score to 4-8 with a long-range shot. After another through ball from Tom and a shot from Bart Schreuder, Reinier was able to take multiple long-range shots and eventually scored two more, bringing the score to 4-12. The match ultimately ended with a score of 5-16 after goals from Bart Merks, Lotte, Reinier, and Rianne, securing the victory.

However, our thoughts turned to Jelmer, who had unfortunately been injured. After a heroic attempt to keep the ball in play, he collided with a fence and was in a lot of pain. After some discussion, we decided to take Jelmer to the Emergency Room in Arnhem. Fortunately, we didn’t have to go by bike, as Rianne had a car available. After a short drive, things seemed to improve a bit at the health center. Although the doctor couldn’t rule anything out yet, it appeared to be more of a bruise, and Jelmer was allowed to try walking on his own again, after which we could take him home.
