The second midweek game was last Wednesday against Spirit from Voorthuizen. This time it was especially for first-year players. It was also my first game with Débaldérin, as it was for some others. By 7:00 PM, we had already started warming up, and by 7:30 PM, the game could begin. Unfortunately, there were some complications with getting the lights on, so the first 10 minutes were played in twilight.
The game started off rather quietly. Both sides created good chances, but no goals were scored. Until Lotte scored the first goal with an overhand running shot. After that, the points started coming quickly. Both the opponents and we managed to score, and we took turns leading the game. At halftime, Débaldérin was ahead 7-6. A solid score, and we were well on our way.
It remained exciting until the very end. Even for the opponents, it became a bit too much, and they started lecturing the referee from the bench. That’s, of course, not the way it’s supposed to go. Shortly before the end, the score was 12-14, and after Bart M’s goal, there was a glimmer of hope. Unfortunately, it wasn’t meant to be, and the final score was 13-14. Despite the loss, it was a great game, and next time, we’ll play for revenge.
