.On Wednesday, October 16, it was time for the second-to-last midweek match of the season. Unfortunately, I haven’t played for Débaldérin for a while, but since Bart M knows exactly how to appeal to my ego and Voorthuizen is roughly on the way to Friesland, I was quickly convinced to join. We started with nine players against a driven Spirit team that could become champions. We immediately began shooting sharply but weren’t as sharp in defense, leading to a quick 2-2 score. After that, we stepped it up a notch and extended the score to 4-9 by halftime.
After the break, it became a bit tougher in attack, but defensively, we still had Spirit in our pocket, as they say in Friesland. With a score of around 6-12, some people couldn’t resist showing off their korfball skills, but this didn’t affect the score at all. The score was further extended to a final result of 7-16. With strong collective defensive work and quite a few goals from KV Wageningen players, we can look back on another great match. It was made even more special by preventing Spirit from claiming the championship and the prospect of the next midweek match, where we could even secure our own (shared) championship!
