On the morning of January 25th, the most important test for Débaldérin 1 in the hall awaited. The result would determine who would be at the top of the league by the end of the week. As you can imagine, both teams were highly motivated to win.
The first half started very evenly, and neither team managed to pull ahead by more than two points. It wasn’t until 4 minutes in that DKOD opened the scoring, which was quickly answered by a long-range shot from Kamiel just 3 minutes later. Tine wasted no time and gave us Débaldérin’s first lead, though it was immediately equalized in the same minute. The first half progressed with alternating shots from both sides: a penalty against us, a shot from Nathalie, a short-range shot against us, a penalty from Tine, and a running-in shot from Marieke (5-4). A penalty and a shot from DKOD, both taken in quick succession, shifted the momentum briefly in their favor (5-6). Fortunately, a shot from Tine and a running-in shot from Marieke put us back in the lead (7-6). Again, DKOD responded quickly with a running-in shot and a shot in the same minute (7-8). A free shot for Willemijn near the end of the first half leveled the score at 8-8 by halftime.
After the break, we finally broke free and quickly scored several goals to take a 12-8 lead (a shot from Marieke, a penalty from Nathalie, and two shots from Tine). However, it remained an extremely tense game, and the win was not yet secured. We had to stay focused, both in attack and defense. DKOD slowly but surely narrowed the gap back to two points at 14-12 (penalty against us, a shot from Matthijs, two shots against us, a shot from Nathalie, and another short-range shot against us). Fortunately, the difference stayed around two goals, and the victory was sealed. Other goals included a shot from Deen, a running-in shot against us, a shot from Matthijs, two shots against us, and finally, a shot from Tine. Final score: 17-15.
