To get a glimpse of the other side of the Betuwe, we traveled to Oss on Tuesday, October 14th. We almost arrived too late because a bridge was open (and no, that’s not an excuse). Before the match even started, there was some drama over the shirts — which resulted in Tom being the best-dressed Débaldérin player of the evening.
Anyway, on to the match. In the opening minutes, things seemed to be going well for Débaldérin, but the opponent didn’t go down without a fight. We had the upper hand offensively, but the ball stubbornly refused to go through the korf. After some tactical substitutions from Oss, they came uncomfortably close to equalizing, and we really had to put in some effort. The halftime score was even: 7–7.
Determined to win, we started the second half strong. The score stretched to a three-point lead, but Oss clawed back dangerously close at 10–11. Two nice goals gave us some breathing room again, though Oss kept breathing down our necks. With just a few minutes left, the score stood at 12–13 — but thanks to quick teamwork and a goal from Nathalie, the points went back with us to the less lively side of the rivers!
Goals: Maud 3, Nathalie 3, Deen 2, Marloes 2, Lara 1, Kamiel 1, Ella 1, Jelmer 1
Showering in Oss is always an experience. Last time, there was no hot water, so we were curious what surprise awaited us this time. To keep things interesting, this time we got to shower in the dark. An experience I’d always wanted to try! Review: fun, but for next time, a little light in the showers would be more practical — and would allow us to better appreciate the spacious layout of the facilities.
Greetings from the 2022/23 Board,
Nathalie & Jelmer
