On February 8, the home game against Animo was on the schedule. We had won the away game convincingly, so we entered this match with confidence. Unfortunately, we were missing Lara, who had suffered a finger injury during Thursday’s training and had to watch the game from the bench.
Matthijs was eager to play and scored the first two goals. Soon, we were leading 7-2 and kept scoring our way to a halftime score of 17-4. With almost as many goals in one half as we scored in an entire game last week, you have to wonder what made the difference. The key difference lay with Matthijs and Tine—Matthijs was now converting his short chances, while nearly every shot Tine took resulted in a goal. By halftime, she had already scored seven times.
During the break, Deen and Marieke were substituted in for Bart Merks and Ella (thanks for joining us!).
In the second half, we continued right where we left off—scoring many long-range shots. Tine kept going strong until, for the first time this season, she reached ten goals in a single game. At 29-4, with about ten minutes left to play, our focus dropped a bit, which led to us losing the last ten minutes 5-6. The final score was 34-10.
