Second Match Against Animo – A Big Improvement
On Wednesday, May 13, it was time for the first home match of the outdoor season. We played against Animo, the team that had comfortably beaten us away from home earlier in the season.
Bart, Kamiel, Maureen, and Rianne started in attack, while Deen, Reinier, Ella, and Lara began in defense. Willemijn and Marieke started on the bench, ready to strengthen the team later in the match.
Our first attack did not result in a goal, which meant the ball was both literally and figuratively in Animo’s hands. Animo took advantage of their opening attack after Reinier conceded a penalty. They then added two more goals from distance, making it 0–3.
Fortunately, Débaldérin managed to get on the scoreboard through a penalty scored by Lara.
After many shots and another free pass conceded, the score became 2–7. Luckily, Maureen and Reinier started finding the korf and reduced the deficit to 5–7. After several more shots and a short chance conceded behind the post by Kamiel, the halftime score stood at 7–10.
In the second half, both teams scored at a similar pace. Once again we conceded a penalty, but fortunately we also managed to score one ourselves, this time through Marieke. The match eventually ended 13–17.
It was not a victory, but it was definitely a better result than the previous encounter, and everyone kept fighting until the final whistle.
Goals: Lara (2), Reinier (4), Maureen (2), Willemijn (1), Bart (2), Rianne (1), Marieke (1)
