Berlicum NB, 11-01-2023
Het was een koude, regenachtige woensdagavond, en een kleine groep avonturiers was op reis naar het verre Berlicum voor een wedstrijd. Het was al laat toen de korfballers in het soms zo mooie Brabant aankwamen, maar deze avond zou niet mooi aflopen. De sporthal was koud, waarschijnlijk door de hoge gasprijzen, en er was weinig tijd voor de sporters zich klaar te maken voor de wedstrijd. De Wageningse afgevaardigden voelden zich echter onoverwinnelijk, en na een aanval stond Débaldérin al met 0 – 1 voor. Deze voorsprong werd gedurende 13 minuten vastgehouden, en er zat weinig schot in de zaak. Aan beide kanten werd fanatiek geprobeerd te scoren, en voor BMC lukte dit uiteindelijk na dertien minuten. 1-1. Op dit moment begon in een vak al frustatie te ontstaan, voornamelijk onder de Berlicummers. Zij hadden hun twijfels over de scheidsrechter en zijn beslissingen, en kwamen hier openlijk voor uit. Ook bleek dat onder de dames ervaren dameskorfballers waren, die fysiek geweld niet schuwden. Gelukkig hield Débaldérin hun hoofd koel, terwijl de spanningen opliepen. In de tussentijd ging het spel redelijk gelijkwaardig door, en gaf het bord in de rust een achterstand van 9-6 aan. Na de rust gingen enkele dames nog aggresiever spelen, tot ongenoegen van de Wageningers. Het enige wat wij konden doen hiertegen was beter korfballen, wat bij Berlicum tot meer frustatie zorgde. Helaas stond Berlicum nog steeds voor, en de vermoeidheid begon binnen te komen bij Débaldérin, wiens wissels wijselijk waren thuisgebleven. Berlicum liep uit, en de schoten van deze fysiek en speltechnisch ervaren spelers vlogen om onze oren. Hierdoor kon Débaldérin helaas de punten niet mee naar huisnemen, maar kan Débaldérin zich opmaken voor een heuse studentenderby aankomende dinsdag!

It was already late when the korfballers arrived in sometimes beautiful Brabant, but this evening would not end nicely. The sports hall was cold, probably due to high gas prices, and there was little time for the athletes to get ready for the match. However, the Wageningen delegates felt invincible, and after just one attack, Débaldérin were already leading 0 – 1. This lead was held for 13 minutes, and there was little shot. Both sides tried fanatically to score, and for BMC they finally succeeded after 13 minutes. 1-1. At this point, frustration was already starting to arise in one box, mainly among the Berlicummers. They had their doubts about the referee and his decisions, and came out openly for this. It also appeared that among the ladies were experienced women’s korfballers, who did not shy away from physical violence. Fortunately, Débaldérin kept their cool as tensions rose. In the meantime, play continued fairly evenly, with the board indicating a 9-6 deficit at half-time. After half-time, some ladies started playing even more aggressively, to the displeasure of the Wageningers. The only thing we could do about this was to play better korfball, which caused more frustration at Berlicum. Unfortunately, Berlicum was still ahead, and fatigue began to set in for Débaldérin, whose substitutes had wisely stayed at home. Berlicum were running out, and the shots from these physically and game-wise experienced players were flying around our ears. This unfortunately prevented Débaldérin from taking home the points, but Débaldérin can prepare for a real student derby next Tuesday!
